Sony tries, fails to trademark “Let’s Play”

Sony has tried and failed to trademark the gaming term, “Let’s Play”.

A NeoGAF user stumbled onto the trademark application, made back in October of last year. In it, Sony applied to claim the phrase in regards to, “electronic transmission and streaming of video games via global and local computer networks.”

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) refused the application on 29 December 2015 due to the “likelihood of confusion” over a similar mark already trademarked: “LP Let’z Play”.

Sony has six months to fight the ruling if desired.
