Sony permanently shuts down LittleBigPlanet PS3, PS Vita servers

Following a period of "extended downtime".

Sony has had to permanently shut down LittleBigPlanet servers on PS3 and PS Vita following a period of “extended downtime”.

With servers offline, community levels and online multiplayer are no longer available for LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS3) and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita.

Story mode and local co-op play have not been impacted by the move.

“Unfortunately, we need to permanently shut down our online services,” an update on Twitter reads. “We have no doubt that this news will come as a big disappointment to a lot of you, ultimately this is the best way to protect the LittleBigPlanet community and to help ensure that our online environment remains safe.”

The silver lining is that LittleBigPlanet servers remain open on PS4, meaning those with LittleBigPlanet 3 on that console have access to more than 10,000,000 community levels to play through.
