Something Tomb Raider will be announced at The Game Awards 2025

New game? Announced TV show? Both? Who knows!

Something Tomb Raider-related will be featured at The Game Awards 2025 later this week, event host Geoff Keighley has teased. Or rather, technically, Fortnite teased it.

“As just revealed in our The Game Awards Vote in Fortnite map portal, tune in Thursday night for a look at the future of one of gaming’s most iconic franchises [Tomb Raider],” Keighley wrote on Twitter.

As for what that actually means is anyone’s guess, as there are so many Tomb Raider-related things in the works — and even more rumoured.

In terms of video games, Tomb Raider currently sits with Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games, following the IPs sale from Embracer two years ago. Crystal Dynamics has been working on a new game since 2022, but we don’t know what it is exactly. We could be seeing a new game (and start of a trilogy?), or perhaps a rumoured remake of the original 1996 Tomb Raider.

On the TV front, a live-action series headed up by Fleabag‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge is in the works, while Netflix has an animated series that you can watch right this second. Are we learning more about either, or both? Time will tell.

The Game Awards 2025 livestreams from 12.00 pm AEDT on 12 December here in Australia. Stevivor is proud to serve on the awards program’s jury, and has done so since 2017.
