SimCity soon to receive the once-impossible: an offline, single-player mode

EA has just advised that SimCity will soon receive an update that provides offline, single-player functionality, despite previous claims that it was “not possible”.

EA and Maxis have not elaborated on how this mode is now achievable.

The offline, single-player play will be part of the game’s “Update 10” and is in addition to mod support for the title. A release date for the update is not yet known, though you can read more about the single-player functionality on the SimCity blog.

Do you agree with EA Australia’s assessment that gamers spoke and EA listened, or is it more like EA eventually caved to pressure?
