Silent Hill The Short Message drops today, is free to play

Silent Hill the Short Message will be available on PS5 later today, fully free to play. Update: It’s now available, here.

“You’ve just seen our new original Silent Hill title, Silent Hill The Short Message. And shortly after this, it will be released as a free download title on PlayStation 5,” said Silent Hill series producer, Motoi Okamoto.

“Konami is proud to present our vision of contemporary psychological horror, and we hope you all enjoy it,” Okamoto continued.

The title appears to be in first-person and looks to be a small taste of what to expect from Silent Hill moving forward.

“Following messages from her friend Maya, Anita finds herself at a crumbling apartment block, infamous for rumors of suicides,” Sony and Konami said in a description for the tralier, above.

“Drawn inside, Anita soon finds her sense of reality shattered as she encounters bizarre, otherworldly spaces, haunted by a twisted monster. Maya’s message was clear — ‘can’t leave til you find it’ — but what is it that Anita is really looking for?”

Konami also used the opportunity to show off a more traditional Silent Hill experience, a third-person affair that we’re already expecting: the Silent Hill 2 remake.

We’ll update this story with trailers — and download links for The Short Message — when they’re available.
