Sega’s Humankind delayed to August 2021

More time for improvements is needed.

Sega’s newest strategy game Humankind has been delayed into 2021, the publisher and developer Amplitude today confirmed.

In a new blog post, Amplitude thanks players for their feedback and specifically detailed what the extra development time will be used for.

“In the weeks since the Lucy OpenDev, we’ve been reading a lot of feedback,” the post reads. “While many players told us they see great potential in Humankind, they also offered a lot of constructive criticism, and often expressed concern if the game could live up to this potential in the time until release.

“After taking stock of your feedback, of where we are with the game, and where we want it to be when we release, we have decided to postpone the release until August. We agree with you all, the game will be incredible with a little extra time, and we think we are lucky to have passionate fans like you who support us up in that decision.”

Improvements include pacing and balancing, adjustments to diplomacy, a better onboarding system and an improved user interface.

Ampltiude also shared some stats from recent testing — players have spun up over 26,000 games, playing more than 2.7 million turns and created 8.5 million districts.

Expect Humankind on Windows PC in August.
