Sea of Thieves Forsaken Shores delayed to next week

Sea of Thieves Forsaken Shores has been delayed to next week, developer Rare has confirmed.

The expansion, previously dated for 19 September, is now expected in 27 September. Rare cited technical issues for the delay.

Last week, Rare’s Joe Neate said the studio “was currently nearing the end of our polish and bug fixing phase, and our goal is to ensure we deliver a stable, polished and bug-free experience to all our players.”

This week, Neate followed up, saying that Rare has found a “memory issue in the build, which is resulting in an unstable build where a large number of our Pioneers were experiencing crashes.”

Forsaken Shores will add a volcanic biome called Devil’s Roar to the mix, throwing boiling water, tremors and geysers at players as a result of the locale’s conditions.

Sea of Thieves is available now on Windows PC and Xbox One. It’s part of the Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere programs.
