Xbox Career system to revamp Achievements, Gamerscore

Microsoft is allegedly developing a revamped Achievement system called Career.

The new system will potentially add levelling, quests and loot for a player’s avatar, all tied to existing Achievements and Gamerscore.

The report comes from Windows Central, which writes that the Career system is currently in internal testing.

In the new system, Achievement completion will not only add to one’s Gamerscore but also to a Gamertag’s level. Levelling up will reward players with loot boxes that contain cosmetic items for the Xbox avatar system. Moreover, players can apparently prestige their characters in the levelling system.

Quests will also be included with the Career system, tasking players to achieve specific tasks. Completion of a quest will offer up XP toward loot boxes, or even loot boxes themselves.

At the moment, Windows Central reports that the cosmetic loot boxes tied to the Career system will not be purchasable with real-world money.

If legitimate, the Career system isn’t expected for quite some time; it’s dependant on the new Xbox avatar system, due sometime in early 2018.
