Starfield reportedly an Xbox console exclusive

Neither Bethesda or Microsoft has confirmed the report as yet.

Bethesda sci-fi RPG Starfield will reportedly be an Xbox console exclusive, at least according to reporter Jeff Grubb.

Grubb took to Twitter to assert that, “Starfield is exclusive to Xbox and PC. Period.”

The journalist later took to VentureBeat citing “sources familiar with the decision” who confirmed that Starfield will be one of Bethesda’s triple-A titles that will remain an Xbox exclusive and be offered up via Xbox Game Pass at launch.

Bethesda was officially folded into Microsoft in early March 2021. Microsoft will honour existing exclusivity contracts, meaning that titles like Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo will be PlayStation exclusives for a period of at least one year. While unconfirmed, it makes sense for Microsoft to counter this with titles like Starfield on its own console.

We’ll report back as more on the status of Starfield becomes official. The title is expected in 2022.
