Resident Evil Village April 2021 release date suggested by leak

Resident Evil Village April 2021 release date has been suggested by a leak that’s come from a recent ransomware cyberattack against developer Capcom.

A post on Resetera summarises quite a bit of information gleaned from the attack, which several tidbits on the Resident Evil franchise itself. First, Resident Evil Village looks to be aiming for an April 2021 release date, and a demo will be available ahead of that time. It’s also possible that a new multiplayer Resident Evil project — referred to as Project Highway and Village Online — will be made available later in 2021.

In regards to older titles, the leak suggests Google Stadia paid Capcom $10 million USD for access to Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village, and that Sony paid Capcom $5 million USD for Resident Evil 7 timed VR exclusivity on PlayStation VR. Finally, the leak alleges that Resident Evil 4 VR is being planned for Oculus VR.

Capcom was attacked earlier in the month, with the publisher recently confirming that customers’ personal information might have been compromised.

We’ll have more on Resident Evil Village as it becomes available.
