The PS5 white outer shell looks to be removable

The PS5 white outer shell that’s proven to be quite divisive amongst fans might be removeable, new images suggest.

The images, one of which can be viewed above, were posted to a forum (that’s failing under the strain of views, apparently) before being picked up by ResetEra. The images show what are essentially teeth on the inside of the PS5’s telltale white plate, suggesting the plate can be locked into place against the console’s black middle.

Users have likened the system to the Xbox 360 and its removable — and swappable — faceplates, which frankly is a bit exciting. Sony has yet to comment on the matter, but we’ll update this story as more is learned.

The PS5 is expected this holiday season.
