Overwatch celebrates its anniversary with GOTY edition, new event and Loot Boxes

Overwatch will feature an anniversary event later this month in addition to a new GOTY Edition, leaks today reveal.

TrueAchievements was the first to find a listing for Anniversary Loot Boxes alongside details of the special GOTY edition.

The anniversary event looks to run between 23 May and 3 June, according to a listing on the Xbox Store.

“Celebrate Overwatch‘s anniversary with a batch of commemorative treats for your heroes during a new event: Overwatch Anniversary,” the listing begins.

“Kick off the celebration with a bang by picking up Anniversary Loot Boxes. Every Loot Box contains up to four cosmetic items, including at least one Anniversary Skin, Spray, Highlight Intro, Emote, Victory Pose, Player Icon or Voice Line.

“More than 100 Anniversary goodies are waiting for you,” it concludes.

According to TrueAchievements, the GOTY Edition of the title will include the following:

  • The full game.
  • 10 Bonus Loot Boxes with cosmetic goodies for your Overwatch heroes.
  • Origin Skins for 5 Overwatch heroes.
  • A Baby Winston Pet for adventures in World of Warcraft.
  • The Tracer Hero for battling it out in Heroes of the Storm.
  • And more.

The Overwatch GOTY Edition is listed for release on 23 May, a day ahead of the game’s 24 May anniversary.

We’ll have more on this as it develops.

Overwatch is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
