Overdose is reportedly Hideo Kojima’s next horror game

Overdose is Hideo Kojima’s next game, a horror title that could be published in partnership with Xbox… that is, if reports are to be believed.

First, industry leaker Tom Henderson has said he’s seen footage from an upcoming announcement of the game. In it, Death Stranding‘s Margaret Qualley (Mama; above) appears and walks through corridors followed by a third-person camera.

After a jump scare, the phrases “GAMEOVER”, “A Hideo Kojima Game” and “Overdose” appear on-screen.

Henderson has tied the footage to a report from by Jeff Grubb, who says that Xbox is in negotiations with Kojima Productions to publish its next game. With those thoughts in mind, it’s suggested that Overdose will be revealed at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase on Monday morning here in Australia.

Update: While we don’t know what Kojima and Xbox are working on, it’s today been confirmed that Kojima and Xbox are indeed working on a game collaboration.

At the Xbox and Bethesda Game Showcase, Kojima said he was working on a title that will be “leveraging the cloud”.

“Today, we also announced a partnership between Xbox Game Studios and Kojima Productions to create a video game for Xbox like no one has ever experienced or seen before leveraging the power of the cloud,” Microsoft said in a statement.

“Hideo Kojima is one of the most innovative and creative minds in our industry we can’t wait to share what our teams will create together.”

We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about Overdoseor whatever this game is.
