A new BioShock game is being developed by 2K

A 2K studio based in San Francisco is working on the next BioShock game, Kotaku reports.

As part of a lengthy postmortem on Mafia 3, it was revealed the studio has codenamed the project Parkside.

“If anyone from [Mafia 3 developer] Hangar 13 tried to strike up a conversation with them, they’d say, ‘Oh, we can’t really talk about it.’ It was all very tight-lipped,” a source told Kotaku’s Jason Schreier.

“The issue is that Parkside‘s not ready for lots of people,” another source said. “[The new BioShock‘s developers are] trying to be really smart about figuring out what the core thing is. They’re careful about not falling into the same problem every studio has, where they have too many people and nothing for them to do.”

While most of Mafia 3‘s development team have since left 2K and Hangar 13 after less-than-stellar reviews, a small number have transitioned over to the new BioShock title.

We’ll have more on the next BioShock game as it’s made available. The last entry in the franchise was 2013’s BioShock: Infinite.
