Indie devs will soon be able to self-publish on Xbox 360, says developer

Indie developers will soon be able to self-publish titles onto Xbox 360 without the need of a third-party publisher, according to FarSight Studios, developer of The Pinball Arcade.

FarSight made the announcement on Steam recently, just after Microsoft confirmed indie developers would be able to self-publish on the next-gen Xbox One.

“Microsoft has just announced that indie developers (like FarSight) can now self-publish on Xbox Live Arcade instead of being required to find publishers for their games,” FarSight said. “This means we can bring The Pinball Arcade back to the 360 ourselves, and also opens the door to an Xbox One version of The Pinball Arcade in the future!”

FarSight continued to say that the ability to self-publish will begin in August. Microsoft is keeping mum on the issue, only saying that they’ll reveal more on self-publishing at Gamescom.
