Halo reportedly making the jump to Unreal Engine

Slipspace has allegedly been given the slip.

Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries is reportedly dropping its custom Slipspace Engine for Unreal Engine instead.

The report comes from Angry Centaur Gaming’s Jeremy Penter, who wrote, “I can only confirm that many sources are saying this and very clear that it’s already been decided and Halo is for sure switching to Unreal.”

“I feel like it’s time for other switches behind the scenes including people leaving and their past problems,” Penter continued.

The report comes at the same time another rumour suggests that Certain Affinity is hard at work on Project Tatanka, Halo Infinite‘s version of a battle royale. According to reports, the mode will feature a 60- and a 100-player battle royale.

A switch to Unreal Engine may make sense as Halo Infinite has been marred by controversy; we detailed the state of the game in a recent Friendly Fire podcast.

Halo Infinite is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X; it’s also part of Xbox and PC Game Pass.
