Don Mattrick apparently tried to buy Zynga while still at Microsoft

Bloomberg yesterday reported that former Xbox exec Don Mattrick — now running Zynga — apparently tried to purchase the casual games company months ago. Bloomberg cites sources “with knowledge of the matter,” who claim that Mattrick tried to bring Zynga into the Microsoft fold back in 2010.

Bloomberg continued to report that its sources say the discussions “ultimately fell apart.” Neither Microsoft or Zynga declined to comment on the story.

Mattrick left his position as President of Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft just after a reversal of Xbox One DRM to become CEO of Zynga.
