DC Universe’s Swamp Thing episode count reportedly reduced

DC Universe’s upcoming Swamp Thing has been reduced from 13 episodes to just 10, reports today suggest.

Reported by Wilmington Star News — the local newspaper that serves the region where filming of Swamp Thing is taking place — Warner Bros. decided to cut the episode count and told local crew Tuesday night of the news. Writers and producers will rewrite the season’s ending as a result.

Warner Bros.’ decision obviously came as a surprise to cast a crew. Actresss Virginia Madsen, who plays Maria Sunderland, took to Instagram with her dismay.

“I’m beyond sad,” she wrote in a post that’s since been removed. “What a terrible decision. We have been cut to the core by those who have never set foot into the Swamp. And despite the rule I am going to use the hashtag. #swampthing.”

DC Universe’s Titans also had an episode count cut during production, changing from 12 episodes to 11.

Swamp Thing also stars Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Derek Mears as Swamp Thing, and Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane. It will debut on DC Universe in late May. DC Universe recently released a video showing Swamp Thing himself; it’s below.
