Capcom lays off 50 at Dead Rising 4’s Capcom Vancouver

Capcom Vancouver, the studio behind Dead Rising 4, has reportedly laid off 50 of its 250 total employees.

The report comes by way of Kotaku, who cites a source close to the studio. The source alleges that the layoffs were “aimed to streamline the company and wrangle the next Dead Rising, which had been over-scoped and under-staffed”.

Moreover, a piece of new IP being developed by Capcom Vancouver has been scrapped. Kotaku’s source described the title as “a third-person action-adventure game set in an alternate reality version of New York”.

Capcom hasn’t commented on the story as yet. We’ll keep you posted as more is known.
