Anthem delayed into 2019 due to pressure to succeed

Anthem looks to have been pushed to 2019, according to a recent report from Kotaku.

Sources close to EA and BioWare say Anthem‘s original autumn 2018 release window was “optimistic” and “never realistic”. With increased pressure from the failure of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and its aggressive loot boxes coupled with fan backlash over a similar problem with competitor Bungie’s Destiny 2, the pressure is on BioWare to produce something spectacular.

As a result, it’s likely the title will see release sometime after March 2019.

Neither EA nor BioWare have made comment on the report.

Anthem was announced last year at E3… and from its initial reveal, looks pretty damn good. We’ll have more on this story as it becomes available.
