Analyst who predicted PS4, PS4 Pro says PS5 will launch in 2018

Macquarie Capital Securities analyst Damian Thong, who correctly predicted the PS4 and PS4 Pro, says Sony will launch the PS5 in 2018.

Thong’s prediction is via the Wall Street Journal, who also reported Sony has shipped 60 million PS4s since launch.

The analyst says he expects the console to ship by the end of 2018, and even expects an announcement from Sony at this year’s E3. E3 2017 takes place over 14-16 June at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California, USA.

What do you make of this prediction? Is it a little early for the PS5, considering the age of the PS4 Pro, or is Sony reacting to Microsoft and the native 4K-capable Project Scorpio?
