Activision Blizzard plans to lay off hundreds of staff

Activision Blizzard is set to lay off hundreds of staff members, a report from Bloomberg suggests.

Bloomberg says that layoffs “could number in the hundreds” and are “part of a restructuring aimed at centralizing functions and boosting profit.” Moreover, the site says the layoffs will be announced Tuesday of this week.

It’s been rough innings for Activision Blizzard of late, with the loss of the Destiny franchise, falling share prices and declining profits from the likes of Overwatch and Hearthstone.

As of the end of 2017, Activision Blizzard had 9,800 employees globally. We’ll report back as more is known.
