A stripped down Xbox 360 to be released in 2013?

File this one straight under “rumour”, folks.

According to anonymous blogger MS Nerd, via Reddit, the next hardware we’ll see coming out of Microsoft will be a stripped down version of the current Xbox. MS Nerd says the console — which has already been stripped down in a way to house an internal 4GB hard-drive — will focus on “Arcade-style games” and will be able to interact with Kinect. The source claims this mini-Xbox will be “price-competitive” with Apple TV and will be available in late 2013.

MS Nerd continues to assert that the Xbox 360’s “true successor” will be available around 2014, and the next generation of Kinect will launch in 2015.

Microsoft hasn’t commented on this latest batch of rumours, but has said in the past that new hardware will not be a part of their E3 presentations this year.
