Returnal’s systems “hinder” a robust save system, says dev

Whoops.

Fans hoping for a manual save feature within Returnal may be disappointed to know that the game’s systems hinder one from being implemented.

The news comes from Housemarque’s Mikael Haveri, who said the studio is nevertheless hearing feedback from players and is attempting to implement a solution.

“We understand that there are some systems in place that are currently a hindering factor,” Haveri said of the triple-A roguelike in conversation with Axios.

Haveri continued on to say that Housemarque is actively attempting to address feedback; that is, players would like a save system that would break up in-game runs that could potentially run for two or more hours otherwise.

“We just don’t know exactly what [the fix] is,” he said. ” So it’s very difficult to announce anything, because I think there’ a lot of different people looking for different things.”

Returnal is currently available on PS5.
