Respawn provides insight on Titanfall’s “Runoff” map ahead of its first DLC release

Titanfall designer Geoff Smith took to the game’s website to provide additional details of “Runoff”, a map in the game’s first DLC package.

“Runoff was an experiment to try and make a small map but still allow Titans enough pathing options so that they don’t feel constrained or limited,” Smith said.

The map was actually intended to be included in the game’s retail release, but was removed due to time constraints.

“The core concept of the level is multiple layers of paths: concrete canals filled with water and trash below, and upper levels that are cleaner and more industrial,” Smith continued. “I thought the canals would be cool for Titans to fight in, with Pilots able to jump across them. I also set out to make more choke points in the level, something that is pretty hard to do in our game, at least for Pilots with their enhanced mobility.”

“Runoff” will be released alongside “Swampland” and “War Zone” as part of Titanfall‘s “Expedition” DLC. The content is $10 USD, or free as part of Titanfall‘s “Season Pass”.

“Expedition” will be available this month on Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows PC.
