Resident Evil Requiem will let you switch between first- and third-person cameras

Don't like first-person? Don't use it!

Resident Evil Requiem will let players switch between a first-person camera and a third-person camera, Capcom has recently confirmed.

The news comes by way of a gameplay demo, of which Engadget has reported switching between perspectives is possible.

“A Capcom spokesperson said you’d be able to transition between the views throughout Resident Evil Reqiuem, offering, if not a difficulty setting, more of a jump scare setting,” wrote Mat Smith. “My take is that a third-person view is a little less scary, so I’ll probably be using that.”

While modern day Resident Evil titles were presented with a third-person, over-the-shoulder camera, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village bucked this trend by going first-person (and with VR support to boot). Village later added the option to play in third-person instead, so it’s nice to see both options available in the next mainline Resident Evil release.

We’ll have more on Resident Evil Requiem as news is made available. Expect the title from 27 February 2026 on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5.
