Resident Evil 4 adds microtransactions, Mercenaries mode

Um, yay?

Resident Evil 4 has added myriad microtransactions in the same update that has brought the free, new Mercenaries mode.

New microtransactions range from $1.99 AUD to $9.99 AUD and largely centre around Exclusive Upgrade tickets required to max out weapon stats. The new microtransactions join others that offer new weapons and even new in-game treasures that won’t feature in other iterations of the title.

Exclusive Upgrade tickets can also be earned in-game through Ptas or Spinels.

Mercenaries mode is thankfully free and adds an entire new mode to the survival-action horror title. It’s very much in the same vein as the same mode in the original; perhaps more importantly, it’s giving fans hope an Ada-focused Separate Ways DLC is coming.

The Resident Evil 4 remake is now available on Windows PC via Steam, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5; we reviewed it here.
