Red Dead Redemption on PS5 now supports 60FPS

Better than on Xbox... but more expensive too.

Red Dead Redemption on PS5 now supports 60FPS, or frames-per-second, Rockstar sneakily has confirmed.

The publisher took to social media to confirm just that: “Red Dead Redemption, including Undead Nightmare, now supports up to 60 FPS on PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility,” Rockstar said.

It’s a curious one; on PS5 and through backwards compatibility, the PS4 version of Red Dead now hits 60FPS. It’s still 30FPS on Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X, but the interesting thing is that people playing on current-gen platforms are accessing the original, Xbox 360 version of the game via backwards compatibility and haven’t had to to pay for a higher-gen upgrade at any point. It’s theoretical that those now playing on PS5 have purchased the game both on PS3 and PS4.

Take from all that what you will… and also keep in mind that 60FPS could presumably be achieved on Xbox Series through Microsoft’s FPS Boost, though that’s not been employed as yet.

Red Dead Redemption is available on Xbox 360 (and Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X through backwards compatibility) alongside PS3, PS4 (and PS5 through backwards compatibility), and Switch. We reviewed it here, way back in 2010.
