PUBG in China will have “socialist core values”

PUBG in China will have “socialist core values,” according to a recent statement.

As translated by Reuters, a statement from Tencent, the studio in charge of Chinese localisation, says PUBG will feature “socialist core values, Chinese traditional culture and moral rules.”

“We will do our best to present a great game to the Chinese users in close cooperation with the company,” added Chang Han Kim, CEO of developer PUBG Corp. “Tencent will localize and operate the game by catering to the preferences of Chinese gamers. We will also offer a different, fun experience on PC.”

It’s as yet unclear how localisation will actually impact the popular battle royale-style shooter.

Tencent is highly successful in China, with a Steam competitor called WeGame alongside investments in Activision Blizzard, Riot Games and Supercell.

PUBG, or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, is currently available on Windows PC. It heads to Xbox One very, very soon.
