PSA: Dead Rising 4 is not an Xbox Play Anywhere title

Dead Rising 4 heads to Xbox One and Windows PC next week, but make no mistake: it’s not an Xbox Play Anywhere title.

Developed by Capcom Vancouver and published by Microsoft, Dead Rising 4 is a quasi-third-party title, unlike ReCore, Gears of War 4 and other Xbox Play Anywhere offerings. That means the game isn’t eligible for the cross-play, cross-buy, cross-save scheme.

It’s easy to be confused; we called Dead Rising 4 an Xbox Play Anywhere title in interviews with Capcom Vancouver’s Joe Nickolls earlier this year.

In the case of this game, it’s Xbox One or Windows PC — choose accordingly.
