PS5 SSD “100 times faster than PS4” HDD, says Sony

The PS5 and its custom designed SSD makes it “100 times faster than PS4,” Sony has recently declared.

The statement comes from a document circulated during a Sony corporate strategy meeting that took place last week.

“In order to further enhance the sense of immersion in games, we expect to improve not just the resolution, but the speed of games,” it reads. “For example, through a custom‐designed high‐speed SSD, we plan to realize game data processing speeds that are approximately 100 times faster than PS4.

“Game load times should be much shorter, and players should be able to move through immense game worlds in almost an instant.”

Hopefully those same speed improvements will be worked into the PlayStation Network, eh?

We’ll have more on the PS5 as it becomes available. A rumored event in June should shed more light on the console and upcoming games.
