PS4, PS5 beta update improves Party Chat, Share Play

But sadly, the update will only be available to those in the US and the UK.

A new PS4 and PS5 beta update will be rolled out tomorrow, improving Party Chat and Share Play amongst other features.

First, those on either console will be able to start an Open or Closed Party, and both sound exactly as you’d expect: Open Parties are open to friends and friends of friends, while Closed Parties are only available to those you select. As this feature is in beta, the Open Party setup will only work with those using the same beta update, while the Closed Party functionality will work with any PlayStation user.

An update to Share Play on PS5 means players will be able to start the functionality directly from a voice chat card rather than starting a Share Screen first.

Also on PS5, Game Base enhancements will change voice chats into Parties, and split the Game Base Menu itself into three tabs: Parties, Friends and Messages.

Over on PS4, players will be able to control the specific volume of each Party member, just like those on PS5 can.

There are more updates in the newest beta software; more information can be found here.

We’ll let you know when Aussies have access to the same functionality on both PS4 and PS5.
