PS3 firmware update 4.45 is bricking consoles; don’t update!

Several Kotaku readers are reporting that the PS3 firmware version 4.45 is bricking consoles.

To back up this claim, there are also several reports on Sony’s own website that claim PS3s no longer work after installing the latest update.

Until Sony gives official word on this issue, it’s best to avoid updating your console so you don’t run into this problem. We’ll report back when we know more.

Thanks to Aaron for the tip!
