Pokemon Go Fest 2020 players spent $17.5 million during event

Pokemon Go Fest 2020 players spent a whopping $17.5 million dollars during last weekend’s two-day event, it’s been reported.

GamesIndustry says that players around the world collectively spent $8.9 million on in-game purchases on day one, 25 July, and another $8.6 million on day two, 26 July. If you think that’s something, the site also reports that the popular mobile game enjoyed sales totalling $7.8 million the Friday before the event. Developer Niantic must be happy.

While these numbers are huge, they will don’t best the game’s one-day spending record of $13.3 million, which was set back on 29 July 2016. Pokemon Go has earned a lifetime total of $3.7 billion.

Pokemon Go is available now on iOS and Android devices. Did you take part in Go Fest 2020?
