PlayStation Studios has acquired Bluepoint Games

Sony's acquisitions continue.

Update: It’s finally official: PlayStation Studios has acquired Bluepoint Games, the develeper behind PS5’s Demon’s Souls.

“PlayStation has such an iconic gaming catalog and for us there’s been nothing better than to bring some of gaming’s masterpieces to new players,” Bluepoint Games’ President Marco Thrush said of the deal.

“Becoming a part of PlayStation Studios, empowers our team to raise the quality-bar even further and create even more impactful experiences for the PlayStation community.”

Sony mistakenly published images announcing its acquisition of Bluepoint back in June 2021, at the same time it properly confirmed it had acquired Returnal‘s Housemarque.

Original story [29 June 2021]: PlayStation Studios will likely add porter Bluepoint Games to its fold, if an image from PlayStation Japan is credible.

As Sony has announced it has acquired Returnal‘s Housemarque, PlayStation Japan seemingly uploaded the wrong image for the announcement, instead showing one annoucing the acquisition of Bluepoint instead. The image can be seen above.

Bluepoint’s latest original game was 2012’s PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale; since then, the studio has churned out remaster after remaster, including Flower on PS Vita and PS4, Titanfall on Xbox 360, Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection on PS4, Gravity Rush Remastered on PS4, Shadow of the Colossus on PS4 and Demon’s Souls on PS5.

Before PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Bluepoint remastered God of War Collection, The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on PS3.
