PlayStation Stars points now good for 1 year instead of 2

Terms and conditions have changed.

Sony has today updated its terms and conditions for its PlayStation Stars rewards program, and perhaps the largest change is that reward points will be valid for 1 year as opposed to 2.

From 1 March next year, Sony will also change the definition of “eligible purchases” that provide said reward points. For example, payments toward the PlayStation Plus subscription service will not be eligible for Stars points.

Over on Reddit, users have reported that they no longer have access to purchase PlayStation Store Wallet funds with Stars points, instead being offered the chance to redeem for Sony’s version of NFCs along in-game credit for the likes of Diablo 4 and NHL 25.

“At some point recently, Sony quietly removed the option to redeem points for store credit,” wrote one user. “Whether this is permanent remains to be seen, but with the amount of anti-consumer practices Sony has been putting out, I doubt this isn’t intentional.”

“What they’ve done in the UK is changed the reward options,” wrote another. “There used to be 2 options: 1250 points for £5 or 5000 points for £20. Now there’s just a single option of 2500 points for £10.”

At any rate, if you’re a member of PlayStation Stars, you’ll need to log into the PlayStation website or your PlayStation smartphone app to agree to the new terms and conditions.
