Update: A trailer for the title has seemingly leaked. It’s below.

Original story: Plants vs Zombies Battle for Neighborville has been recently trademarked by EA, suggesting a new entry in the popular third-person shooter is on the way.

The trademark comes after confirmation that EA has been sending out invitations to playtest a sequel in the popular Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare franchise.

“You are invited to participate in the new PvZ shooter (codename Picnic) playtest on Xbox One or PS4,” EA’s invitations read. “Made by the team that created PvZ Garden Warfare, the Picnic Closed Alpha will give players a first glimpse into the new game – you don’t want to miss out!”

It’s like the two are connected.

If you’re not into third-person shooters but enjoy Plants vs Zombies on mobile, EA and PopCap have also recently confirmed Plants vs Zombies 3 for both iOS and Android devices.

We’ll have more on Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville as it’s made available.
