Phil Spencer talks cross-buy on Xbox One, Windows 10

Xbox’s Phil Spencer took to a panel at GDC to discuss cross-buy on Windows 10 and Xbox One.

Spencer said the cross-buy option will allow a gamer to buy a game and play on both the Xbox One and Windows 10 platforms for no additional cost. This mirrors cross-buy functionality on Sony’s PS3, PS4 and PS Vita.

That said, the option won’t be mandatory, meaning third-party developers and publishers will be able to decide if their title is cross-buy or not.

It’s assume most or all of Microsoft’s first-party offerings on both Xbox One and Windows PC will take advantage of cross-buy.
