Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2019 adds new mode & ability

The Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2019 event is on now and adds a new mode and ability to pre-existing offerings.

The new mode is the Snowball Deathmatch, an eight-player free-for-all where players will all play as Mei. Players will also receive a new ability — catch — meaning they’ll be able to prevent an elimination from an enemy snowball and be able to use it to their advantage instead. The first player to hit 15 eliminations wins the game.

The event also adds new weekly challenges, rewards and skins as follows:

  • Week 1 challenge reward: Ugly Sweater Soldier:76 (Epic)
  • Week 2 challenge reward: Holly Moira (Epic)
  • Week 3 chalenge reward: Snow Angel Mercy (Epic)
  • Four Legendary Skins: Jotunn Doomfist, Mountain Man McCree, Rat King Reaper, Rime Sigma
  • Three Epic Skins
  • Player Icons, Sprays

Previous Winter Wonderland events have included the vanilla version of Mei’s Snowball Offensive and Winston’s Yeti Hunter, so at the very least you’ll have another shot at bagging those seasonal Achievements or Trophies.

Overwatch is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch.
