Overwatch 2 wants you to forget it had a name change by being Overwatch again

What's old is new again.

Overwatchcurrently Overwatch 2, will be back to Overwatch again from 10 February, with Blizzard both hoping you ignore two name changes and you’re cool with a complete do-over of the hero shooter.

From 10 February, Overwatch 2 will be renamed back to Overwatch and will kick off Season 1 instead of Season 21. The hero shooter will also introduce five new heroes, follow by five more to come throughout 2026.

New heroes include Domina (Tank; above top right), Emre (Damage; above bottom centre), Anran (Damage; above bottom left), Mizuki (Support; above bottom right), and Jetpack Cat (Support; above top left). They’ll be joined by new sub-roles for each hero, which are as follows:

  • Tank: Bruiser, Initiator, and Stalwart
  • Damage: Sharpshooter, Flanker, Specialist, Recon
  • Support: Tactician, Medic, and Survivor

Each character will be assigned one sub-role; Mercy, as an example, will be a Support Medic.

Overwatch first launched in 2016; it was renamed Overwatch 2 back in 2022.

Overwatch is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, and Switch.
