Nintendo teases new Pikmin project in animated shorts

No idea.

Nintendo has released two new digital shorts called Close to You, which tease a new Pikmin project.

Today, a second short with Pikmin showing (as compared to the original version in which they were invisible) is now available on the Nintendo Today app. Nintendo hasn’t said what the shorts are for — it could be a new video game, a new animated TV series, or maybe even an animated film.

One thing’s for certain, though: Rosalina isn’t the child seen in the videos. Well, maybe. Regardless, we’ll post the second video when it’s available on YouTube.

Original story [8 October]: Nintendo has published a new four-minute video with little fanfare, offering nothing to fans but the short’s title. In it, a toddler plays in her bedroom, then marvels as items like her pacifier move on their own accord. It’s as adorable as it is confusing.

Take a look below.

Fans suggest this is a Pikmin 5 tease as the titular beings of that popular franchise are canonically invisible to the human eye (hence things “moving” by themselves).

Still, others believe this video could be a tease for something Super Mario related as the toddler has hair and attire reminiscent of Galaxy‘s Rosalina.
