Nintendo Switch system update 3.0.0 now available; here’s what it brings

Update 3.0.0 for the Nintendo Switch is now available, bringing with it a host of new options.

The update includes the following:

  • Registration for News channels focusing on specific games
  • Adding friends from your 3DS or Wii U Friend Lists
  • Receiving notifications when your Friends go online
  • Finding paired controllers using vibration
  • Changing your user icon via the Home Menu
  • 6 new Splatoon 2 character user icons
  • Changing system volume from Quick Settings
  • Lower maximum volume for headphones/speakers connected to the audio jack
  • Changing display colours to inverted or greyscale
  • Connecting a USB keyboard to type when such input is required
  • Using the Pro Controller via wire/USB-C
  • Updating connected controllers

The update also brings a number of fixes.

To trigger the update manually, head to System Settings > System > System Update.
