Nintendo cuts European Switch pricing ahead of OLED Edition

We've asked Australian PR if we can expect the same.

Nintendo has cut the price of current European Switch models in the lead up to the new OLED Edition, the publisher has today confirmed.

The current model Switch has been reduced to £259.99 from £279.99 in the UK and €269.99 from €329.99 elsewhere in Europe.

“We made the price change before the launch of Nintendo Switch – OLED Model so that the price differences between each model in Nintendo’s own retail channel, My Nintendo Store, would be what Nintendo judges to be appropriate for its own store,” a Nintendo UK representative explained to VGC.

“More than four and a half years after its first release, Nintendo Switch continues to have strong sales momentum in Europe. After carefully weighing up a variety of factors, including currency exchange rates in Europe and the upcoming launch of Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, we decided that now was the appropriate time to change the European trade price of Nintendo Switch.”

We’ve asked Nintendo Australia and New Zealand if we can look forward to a price reduction in anticipation of the OLED Edition.

Update: Nintendo Australia and New Zealand has told Stevivor that the price decrease is in the European market only.

“The trade price adjustment is for the European region only,” a representative has told Stevivor. “There are no plans to change the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price for any Nintendo Switch model in Australia.”

The Nintendo Switch OLED Edition will become available from 8 October and is priced at $539 AUD.
