Ninja Gaiden 4 announced, coming later this year

Team Ninja and PlatinumGames are cooking.

Ninja Gaiden 4 was today announced, a collaboration between Team Ninja and PlatinumGames. Moreover, it’ll be available later this year.

“Fans have long been asking us for a new Ninja Gaiden game,” said Team Ninja head Fumihiko Yasuda. “Koei Tecmo’s president, Hisashi Koinuma, and PlatinumGames’ CEO, Atsushi Inaba, share a close relationship, which led us to explore a collaborative development effort.

“PlatinumGames had the expertise we felt was ideal for working on Ninja Gaiden,” Yasuda continued, “and with support from [Xbox head Phil Spencer], the three companies were able to take the next step towards creating a brand-new Ninja Gaiden.”

“The definitive ninja action-adventure franchise returns with Ninja Gaiden 4,” reads a description attached to the announcement trailer, above. “Embark on a cutting-edge adventure where legacy meets innovation in a high-octane blend of style and no-holds-barred combat.”

While Xbox itself will publish Ninja Gaiden 4, fellow publisher Koei Tecmo today announced — and released — a Ninja Gaiden 2 Black remaster.

Expect Ninja Gaiden 4 later this year on Windows PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms.
