Next-gen Destiny 2 coming 8 December, offers FOV slider

Get ready.

Next-gen Destiny 2 won’t be released alongside the Xbox Series S & X or PS5 and instead will be offered a month later on 8 December, Bungie has today confirmed.

The free upgrade — provided you own Destiny 2 on Xbox One or PS4 — will offer 4K and 60 FPS gameplay on Xbox Series X and PS5 (or 1080p, 60 FPS on Xbox Series S), and will also boast faster load times, cross-gen play and a field of view (FOV) slider.

“We are offering Field of View customization on consoles for the first time,” Bungie advised. “Our goal is to enable a FOV range similar to that on PC. We’re currently testing these settings to ensure smooth performance across each platform and will have additional details closer to launch.”

Destiny 2 is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Stadia where available. It’s now available to download via the Xbox Game Pass subscription program on Xbox One. Beyond Light heads to all available platforms — alongside Xbox Series X and PS5 — from 10 November, though the proper next-gen version launches a month later.
