New Xbox App on Android allows for remote play

A newly updated Xbox App on Android devices now allows for remote play, Party and chat and more, Microsoft has recently confirmed.

The app looks almost identical to the Xbox App on Windows PC, offering the same sorts of interactions including a look at your Achievements, access to Parties and text chat and the ability to browse the Microsoft Store. It also allows for connection and remote play from Xbox One consoles accessible on the same network (or theoretically, through the internet if you’ve got a static IP).

Xbox’s Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb spoke to Kristen Mann, Principal Program Manager, about the app in a video below.

In addition to the new Xbox App, those on Android — and in supported regions — can also download the Xbox Game Pass App and access Cloud Game Streaming. Those of us in Australia can’t as yet, but Xbox head Phil Spencer said that should change in 2021.
