New PSVR patent suggests next release could be wireless

A new PSVR patent suggests the unit’s next iteration might take advantage of wireless technologies.

The patent, uncovered by LetsGoDigital, shows some potential changes to the PlayStation VR system currently used at home. First, two outward facing cameras will sit on the potential PSVR headset, with another outward facing camera on the back as well. More cameras exist on new controllers too.

Alongside these changes is the mention the headset could leverage Bluetooth to function wirelessly.

Sony recently detailed when we’ll be able to get our hands on the PS5 — is a PlayStation VR refresh due at the same time, for holiday 2020? Time will tell… and we’ll keep you posted.
