New PS5 update adds auto low latency mode

Nice!

A new PS5 update released late last week has added a new auto low latency option for those with flashy new TVs.

If you’ve got a TV that supports the feature, you can head to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > ALLM to play with the settings.

When set to automatic, low latency mode will kick in when playing titles, and will (in theory) make you a better player with reduced lag whilst playing. If the mode is set to off, it won’t be used… that is, unless you’ve got variable refresh rate (VRR) enabled.

We recently reviewed LG’s 2022 C2 OLED TV and praised features like VRR and low latency modes over frames and resolution. Check that review out here.
