New PS5 beta includes support for 8TB SSDs

Now the only hurdle is the price of the SSD...

A new PS5 beta has introduced a number of new features including support for 8TB SSDs (solid state drives).

“We’re thrilled to roll out a new PS5 system software beta that introduces new accessibility features as well as audio options that allow 3D Audio powered by Tempest 3D AudioTech to be enjoyed on compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled HDMI devices such as sound bars, TVs, or home theater systems,” Sony said, detailing the update.

“The beta also includes more options to quickly find games and console tips, new ways to connect with other players and customize your multiplayer sessions, and support for larger-capacity M.2 SSDs (up to 8TB).”

While this is great news, the potential hurdle here is that a compatible 8TB SSD will set you back at least $1,000 AUD. If you’ve got the spare cash, you’ve got heaps of storage in your console.

Will you be getting a PS5 SSD upgrade, or are you more excited for other items in the new beta? Sound off in the comments section, below.
