Netflix drops Star Trek Prodigy; show will be removed from library by end of year

Its creators "hold out hope someone will pick it up".

Star Trek Prodigy has again been dropped, with Netflix set to remove both seasons of the show from its library by the end of 2025.

Taking to social media, creators Dan and Kevin Hageman confirmed that Season 1 of Star Trek Prodigy will be removed from Netflix by 24 June, and Season 2 will follow on 31 December.

“While the future removal of [Star Trek Prodigy] on Netflix is disconcerting, it has little to do with lack of viewership or anything nefarious,” the pair wrote. “The license for S1 is up June 24, and S2 Dec 31. We hold out hope someone will pick it up. The next generation of Trek fans deserve it.”

Star Trek Prodigy first streamed on Paramount+ before Paramount dropped the children’s show following its first season. Netflix later swept in to save the day, though has followed suit after the show’s second season.

We’ll have more on Star Trek Prodigy as it becomes available… but things aren’t looking too good.
